Life is hard, my niece passed away suddenly.

Result

My niece was transported from Shanghai back to her hometown on January 19, 2024, and is scheduled to be cremated in the next two days.

I drove all day yesterday to go back to the hometown, but was told that this is considered an unnatural death. The elderly in the village won't come to pay respects, and it's not recommended to visit her. Only her mother can go on our behalf to offer flowers.

Story Summary

When she was five years old, her father passed away, and her mother ran away. She was raised by her grandfather and aunt. After growing up, she went to work in Shanghai, had a boyfriend who cheated on her, worked for several years, and became a team leader. Last month, after eating hotpot, she felt unwell and drank a cup of milk tea before bed. She never woke up.

Experts said it was a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was in the ICU for about 28 days, and was finally transported back to her hometown by ambulance.

Reflection

It's so tragic. A few months ago, she attended her cousin's wedding, and we noticed she had become more beautiful and knew how to dress up. I never expected life to be so fragile.

I feel that the world after COVID-19 is truly different from before. Many rules have changed. If people become so fragile, many mentally and physically demanding jobs are actually high-risk activities. Preventing risks has become more important than resisting them.

On the way back, it snowed heavily and was very cold. I think she must have had many regrets.
