My niece was transported back to her hometown from Shanghai on January 19, 2024, and is scheduled to be cremated in the next two days.
I drove all day yesterday to go back to the hometown, but was told that this is considered an unnatural death. Elderly people in the rural area do not come to see such cases, and it is not recommended to visit. Only my mother could go on my behalf to send flowers.
Story Outline
When she was five years old, her father passed away and her mother ran away. She was raised by her grandfather and aunt. After growing up, she went to work in Shanghai, had a boyfriend, but was cheated on. After working for several years, she became a small supervisor. Last month, after eating hot pot, she felt unwell. Before going to bed, she drank a cup of milk tea, and then never woke up again.
Experts said it was a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. She stayed in the ICU for about 28 days and was finally transported back to her hometown by ambulance.
Reflections
It's so pitiful. A few months ago, she attended her cousin's wedding, and when we saw her, we felt she had become more beautiful and knew how to dress up. I never expected life to be so fragile.
I think the world after COVID-19 is really different from before. Many logics have to change. If people become very fragile, many heavy mental and physical jobs are actually high-risk activities. Preventing risks has become more important than resisting risks.
On the way back, it snowed heavily and was very cold. I think she must have had many regrets.
